We will be hosting attendance at a Pittsburgh Pirate Spring Training baseball game on Tuesday March 12, 2024.   The Pirates will be playing the Atlanta Braves at Lecom Park in Bradenton, FL.  Attendance at a game in a small venue like Lecom Park is truly a great experience and a great way to get ready for the regular season of ‘Bucco’ baseball. Our block of seats is undercover (rain / sun) in Section 4 (upper section behind home plate).

We will also host a pre-game event at a local restaurant or tavern beginning at 11:00 a.m. for folks who would like to grab a bite to eat prior to the game. The optional pre-game gathering will be held at the Motorworks Brewing Company beginning at 11:00 a.m.  All purchases at the restaurant would be paid separately. Motorworks is just a 7 minute walk from the Lecom Park.

Game time is 1:05 pm (updated)Ticket price will be $26 per person for the game. If you are attending, please prepay the $26 ticket price by Zelle or check. Detailed instructions can be found under the "Member Payments" section of our website.  The tickets will be distributed electronically upon receipt from the Pirates.  Parking in one the satellite lots will be about $10

This event is open to all SWRA and SURE members and guests as well as previous Westinghouse employees.  We are soliciting initial interest in attendance to plan the pre-game event, estimate the number of tickets we need to block, and for attendees to “save the date”.   So let us know by submitting an RSVP (before January 31, 2024) if you are interested in attending! RSVP extended; please submit before end of day on February 14, 2024

Some Background ...

The Orlando Innovation Campus (OIC) is a custom engineering solution provider that helps industry and small businesses by rapidly prototyping solutions for business challenges, testing the return on investment for new ideas and producing end-to-end solutions. Their 30,000 sq ft facility is made up of an Innovation Center, Technical Application Center and an Additive Manufacturing Application Center. The Innovation Center focuses on expert collaboration, rapid prototyping and testing. They house over 17 robotic arms, various metal and plastic 3D printers, scanners and a state-of-the-art machine shop. The Technical Application Center focuses on developing new products and solutions within their five fields of action: Decarbonized Heat & Industrial Processes, Energy Storage, Power-to-X, Resillient Grids & Reliability, and Condition based service interventions. Furthermore, the Additive Manufacturing Application Center focuses on technologies that reduce lead time, enhance performance and extend part life. They use a metal 3D printer called a Laser Powder Bed Fusion to reproduce obsolete parts, optimize design and support supply chain shortages. Overall, these programs benefit the customer by minimizing plant downtime, solving part shortages with quick turnarounds, and printing on demand to reduce inventory.
