SPCA of Central Florida

MISSION: To promote responsible human behavior toward animals.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: At both facilities: 2800 County Home Road, Sanford, FL 32773 and 2727 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839: Kitty Cuddlers, Bark Buddies, Party Animals (helping with special events), Petfood Xpress (delivering pet food to elderly people), Foster Care (for animals with special needs), Office Wizards, etc.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY—ORLANDO

MISSION: Bring together families in need and volunteers of all faiths, in partnership with community resources to enhance lives by building homes, strengthening neighborhoods and improving our community.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Construction assistance at the 58 townhome complex currently under construction. Go to the HfH website and look under the tab, “Volunteer Now” to see dates and times volunteers are needed. HfH also has a “re-store” where you can volunteer for less strenuous activities. Again, check the HfH website.

ADULT LITERACY LEAGUE

MISSION: The Adult Literacy League develops readers to build a strong and literate community.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Helping an adult to improve his/her literacy skills through one-to-one tutoring. Training is provided.

LIONS INTERNATIONAL

MISSION: Promote eye health. Provide examinations, glasses and medical assistance to those unable to afford. Clubs also are involved in community charitable activities.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Clubs are located throughout the country. Locally, there are clubs in Maitland, Longwood/Lake Mary, Sanford and Oviedo/Winter Springs.

FLORIDA HOSPITAL CANCER INSTITUTE FOUNDATION

MISSION: The Cancer Institute Foundation of Florida Hospital engages in fundraising activities in support of a multitude of needs ranging from research, facilities, medical programs and other areas of need.
