ADULT LITERACY LEAGUE

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Helping an adult to improve his/her literacy skills through one-to-one tutoring. Training is provided.

Be a Tax Aide Volunteer
Volunteer opportunities for doing free tax returns for the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program.  The Tax-Aide Program is now soliciting new recruits. You do not need to be an AARP member to volunteer. 

Training sessions begin in January.

MISSION: To significantly reduce pet overpopulation and the killing of healthy pets by providing affordable, high quality spay and neuter services and by educating our community about responsible pet ownership.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: This non-profit clinic provides affordable, high quality spay / neuter services for dogs and cats. Volunteers are needed throughout the day to assist staff personnel with instrument sterilization, laundry, animal (cats / dogs) care, and other miscellaneous office tasks. We also need volunteers during fundraising events. We occasionally do trap, neuter, release programs (TNR) at feral cat colonies in the Central Florida area. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY—ORLANDO

MISSION: Bring together families in need and volunteers of all faiths, in partnership with community resources to enhance lives by building homes, strengthening neighborhoods and improving our community.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Construction assistance at the 58 townhome complex currently under construction. Go to the HfH website and look under the tab, “Volunteer Now” to see dates and times volunteers are needed. HfH also has a “re-store” where you can volunteer for less strenuous activities. MISSION: Promote eye health. Provide examinations, glasses and medical assistance to those unable to afford. Clubs also are involved in community charitable activities. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Clubs are located throughout the country. Locally, there are clubs in Maitland, Longwood/Lake Mary, Sanford and Oviedo/Winter Springs.
